My name is Nathan Vosburg and I am running for a seat on the Coalinga City Council for district 3. I am the Former Mayor of Coalinga, a small business owner, and I work at the Coalinga Huron Library District as their IT Analyst. I am currently the Vice Chair of the Chamber of Commerce.
Last time I was on Council the City was in a major drought, and had a deficit of 4.1 million dollars which myself and the Council erased during my tenure paving the way for the millions of dollars in surplus that the City has today.
Well here I am. Back at it again. I have attended almost every city council meeting since leaving office, spoke in public comment, public hearings, and for discussion items. I have held their feet to the fire when I believe they are making mistakes, and that is why I am here to run again to get my seat back.
I believe that my much of the time the council does not do his homework, and makes decisions based almost solely on city staff reports, and almost never has any out of the box thinking. I research almost every item on the agenda and bring out of the box solutions to the table. City Staff does a great job in bringing options and solutions to the table, but they are not the end all solution, that is why we vote for elected officials.
Recently council voted to raise your natural gas rates by 95% , your Sewer Rates by 52% and the water rates up to 35% by 2024. This is unacceptable as I believe that Coalinga needs to be an affordable city to live in.
Vote for me in November, and I will support increased public safety for police and fire.
I will vote no on unnecessary fee increases, push to have the people vote for the mayor rather than appointed by Council, and vote in favor of full time animal control, push for a sidewalk connecting echo canyon/ Sandalwood to the rest of the city.
I will also vote to restore having the city being open 5 days a week, bring in outside businesses and places for people to eat, and I will be a full time council person that will demand results for our citizens making our town safe, and affordable.
